Each session is unique and is designed for the client's specific needs:
Deep Tissue
A firmer, deeper and slower work affecting deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to break up congestion and speed removal of metabolic waste.
Hot Stone Massage
Smooth heated basalt stones are placed on key body points and also used in massage strokes creating a deeply relaxing warm treatment that soothes body and soul. My clients often refer to this as a “mental vacation”.
Myofascial Release
Helps restore mobility to the connective tissue in the body called fascia. Fascia a tough, sheath-like substance throughout the body, wraps muscle fibers and muscle tissue into groups. It can become damaged or scarred through a variety of causes including trauma, surgery, poor posture and repetitive stress. The work itself is typically done with little or no lubricant. The therapist gently stretches your skin and underlying muscle to correct and lengthen fascia and increase mobility.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Treats "trigger points" or specific areas of neural activity to break cycles of spasm and pain.
The definition of Neuromuscular Massage Therapy (St. John Method) is the science by which homeostasis (balance) is brought about between the nervous system and the musculo-skeletal system.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal Massage can help reduce the fatigue, headaches, swelling and edema associated with pregnancy, preparing the body for the stresses of labor and delivery. Sessions are done with you lying on your side. I will use light to medium pressure. Postpartum Massage helps a woman's body rebound from pregnancy as well as supports the mother's emotional adjustments. Postpartum Massage also eases the muscle aches and pains that develop from nursing and carrying her new infant. I incorporate the different styles and techniques I learned with Claire Marie Miller Nurturing the Mother seminar.
Reflexology
Reflexology is the practice of stimulating the hands and the feet through massage. Congestion or tension in any part of the foot or hands can mirror congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body.
Swedish
This technique employs long strokes, kneading and friction. Performed on more superficial muscle layers, it is generally lighter-handed and geared toward relaxation. It is also used for warming tissues in order to perform deeper work, but can be used for the entire session.
